What Is Your Purpose in Life
God created us with a purpose in mind (2 Corinthians 5:5). So, finding our life’s purpose is important. Why be contrary to our Creator’s design?
How to find our purpose? Pursue the right things: “He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor” (Proverbs 21:21). Here, “love” includes loving God: “… in all things God works for the good of those who love him” (Romans 8:28). “For I (God) know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29: 11).
Theologian Nicki Gumbel warns that our purpose shouldn’t only be getting more stuff. He advises that , “Having more to live with is no substitute for having more to live for… The two greatest days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why. In other words, what you are living for. “*
People go in many directions to find their life’s purpose. What better direction than toward our creator. If He made us for a particular purpose, He won’t mind sharing it with us. He is readily available through prayer, and unlike professional counselling, His has no monetary cost. The only requirement is to abandon our willful pride and submit to Him in love. Doesn’t seem like much of a sacrifice to answer one of life’s most important questions.
